I think LTS/stable branches are here to prevent such branches.
The other solution is using commerially backed kernels, like
SUSE/openSUSE kernels, which are kinda of LTS/stable with extra QA.

The real solution is more QA/review resource for btrfs.

IIRC this false CRC is already a bug, but unforunately I'm not familiar
enough with that part, so I can't say if it's already fixed.

You could try latest upstream kernel for your workload to see how it
works, and report back to contribute if you prefer.
