Forgiven is the third album from Grammy Award winning multi platinum artist Los Lonely Boys. This album was produced by Steve Jordan (John Mayer). Forgiven is the follow up to Sacred which debuted at #2 on the Billboard charts in July 2006. The album's first single 'Staying With Me' premiered on May 5th Cinco De Mayo. Los Lonely Boys are a rock band from San Angelo, Texas. They play a style of music which they dub as Texican Rock n' Roll, combining elements of Rock'N'Roll, Blues, Soul, Country, and Tejano.Los Lonely Boys have an impressive sound, on CD or in concert. Sound will never be a problem for this group, but although Forgiven is well executed technically, Los Lonely Boys have been doing the same song over and over for years. If you have listened to three of their songs, you have heard them all. This CD is no different. It’s the same usual rock/pop with a few Latin touches in the Santana style. It’s good that the group has a signature sound, but it doesn’t mean that it’s alright to make the same album time and again. Should Los Lonely Boys adventure to perform other genres, they will surely have an impact, as they did when they first came out, but Forgiven is a forgettable album. --Ernesto Sánchez (People en Español  ) Aquí tiene a un grupo que suena espectacular ya sea en disco o en concierto, ese nunca será su problema. Pero a pesar de que en Forgiven técnicamente está bien ejecutado Los Lonely Boys llevan años haciendo la misma canción una y otra vez, si ha escuchado tres canciones de ellos ya lo ha escuchado todo, este disco no es diferente, presenta el mismo rock pop de siempre con toquecitos latinos al estilo Santana. Es admirable que el grupo tenga un sonido que los caracteriza, pero eso no quiere decir que deban hacer el mismo disco una y otra vez. Decca and Surco Records are proud to announce the new release of "Mar Dulce" (Sweet Sea) from Bajofondo, the Argentine-Uruguayan collective led by the two-time Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning composer of Brokeback Mountain and Babel, Gustavo Santaolalla. (The US version of Mar Dulce includes 'Boldozas Majados' featuring NELLY FURTADO and JULIETA VENEGAS adding her vocals to a new version of the international hit single 'Pa' bailar' entitled 'Siempre Quiero Mas') Bajofondo's previous self-titled release sold over 300,00 copies and was awarded the Latin Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental in 2003. As on their earlier recordings, "Mar Dulce" sees Bajofondo's seven virtuosic musicians lead listeners through a sensual soundscape of tango, trip-hop, drum & bass and pop elements that redefine the essence of tango for the 21st century. This newest installment in the Bajofondo oeuvre features guest performances by Elvis Costello, Nelly Furtado, Julieta Venegas, Gustavo Cerati, Ryota Komatsu, La Mala Rodriguez, Santullo, Juan Subira and the final recorded performance by legendary Uruguayan tango diva Lagrima Rios. The irrepressible energy of "Mar Dulce" also translates live. The Financial Times describes a Bajofondo performance at London's Barbican Center like this: "DJ Juan Campodonico triggered drum loops and samples that cross-fertilised with the more traditional tango ensemble of violin, bandoneón...and double bass, all of which were brilliantly played by masters of their instruments. The crowd went wild for it, invading the stage at the end and cheering for more with a standing ovation..." Bajofondo is comprised of Gustavo Santaolalla on guitar, percussion, and vocals; Juan Campodónico on programming, beats, samples and guitar; Luciano Supervielle on piano, keyboards and scratch; Javier Casalla on violin; Martín Ferrés on bandoneon; Gabriel Casacuberta on upright bass and electric bass; Adrián Sosa on drums; and Verónica Loza as VJ and on vocals. The new album, Mar Dulce, was recorded in real time. All the members played together in the studio as if they were a rock or a jazz group, which was a radically different approach from the first album. Mar Dulce was recorded in Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo and Madrid. The multiplicity of locations reflects the cosmopolitan attraction of Bajofondo, as well as the eclectic list of guest artists including the extraordinary British singer and composer Elvis Costello, Spanish rapper Mala Rodríguez, virtuoso Japanese bandoneon player Ryota Komatsu and several Rio de la Plata artists whose origins cover the entire gamut from traditional to vanguard. Uruguayan artists participating range from the great Lágrima Ríos (this would be her last recording) and guitarist Toto Méndez (musical director of Alfredo Zitarrosa's quartet) to electronica duo OMAR and vocalist Fernando Santullo, ex-Peyote Asesino, a band that also included Juan Campodónico. Argentine artists include Gustavo Cerati, the frontman for Soda Stereo, the most popular rock group in Latin America in the 1980s, and Juan Subirá, keyboardist and composer of Bersuit, one of the most popular bands in Argentine rock, who makes a surprising appearance on Mar Dulce as a singer, revealing another facet of his talents.Although the Argentinean Gustavo Santaolalla has become famous in recent years for his film work, he is also one of the most important Latin music producers of the last two decades and has produced albums for Café Tacva, Juanes, Molotov, Dividido, and Julieta Venegas, among others. Now the musician makes a comeback as the brain behind Mar Dulce, the commendable second album from Bajofondo Tango Club. (Santaolalla is also a member of the group). As on its first album, this group mixes electronic music with tango, but this album is far from being a mere copy of its predecessor. Originally released in March 1964, this collaboration between saxophonist Stan Getz and guitarist João Gilberto came at seemingly the end of the bossa nova craze Getz himself had sparked in 1962 with Jazz Samba, his release with American guitarist Charlie Byrd. Jazz Samba remains the only jazz album to reach number one in the pop charts. In fact, the story goes that Getz had to push for the release of Getz/Gilberto since the company did not want to compete with its own hit; it was a good thing he did. Getz/Gilberto, which featured composer Antonio Carlos Jobim on piano, not only yielded the hit "Girl from Ipanema" (sung by Astrud Gilberto, the guitarist's wife, who had no professional experience) but also "Corcovado" ("Quiet Night")--an instant standard, and the definitive version of "Desafinado." Getz/Gilberto spent 96 weeks in the charts and won four Grammys. It remains one of those rare cases in popular music where commercial success matches artistic merit. Bossa nova's "cool" aesthetic--with its understated rhythms, rich harmonies, and slightly detached delivery--had been influenced, in part, by cool jazz. Gilberto in particular was a Stan Getz fan. Getz, with his lyricism, the bittersweet longing in his sound, and his restrained but strong swing, was the perfect fit. Unfortunately, that’s just not enough these days, as musicians with great voices vie for a spot in the music marketplace by create original work and new sounds that supersede even old veteran singers. In his most recent album, Luismi leans on the same musical elements he’s used for the past 20 years: an orchestra, a horn section, and boleros round up a collection of 12 boring tracks written by Manuel Alejandro. If you can stay awake while listening to the disc, more power to you. Luis Miguel has the talent and potential to be as exciting as Michael Bublé or Josh Groban, but he settles for Michael Bolton. --Ernesto Sánchez (People en Español ) Nunca se podrá negar que Luis Miguel tiene una gran voz. The El Cantante soundtrack is a solid effort, notable for Anthony's dedication to recreating Lavoe's distinct delivery and phrasing. He puts aside his own emotive stylings for a more subdued performance on several tracks, including the celebratory "Mi Gente" and the mournful "Escandalo." Anthony is virtually unrecognizable during "Che Che Cole," "Quitate," and the standout "Que Lio," which makes the project all the more intriguing. Jennifer Lopez, Anthony's wife in real life and onscreen in El Cantante, croons pensive closing ballad "Toma de Mi." He aquí la música que el salsero boricua grabó para acompañar su actuación en la película biográfica sobre el cantante puertorriqueño Héctor Lavoe. Lo interesante es que Marc Anthony hizo mucho más que grabar las canciones de Lavoe con su estilo propio. El esposo de Jennifer López frasea exactamente igual que el legendario salsero en este álbum, lo cual es todo un logro, ya que fue ese fraseo tan especial el que hizo a Lavoe un ídolo. On March 6th, Julieta Venegas recorded her MTV Unplugged at the Churubusco Studies in Mexico City, where she presented new songs besides interpreting some of her greatest hits in an intimate atmosphere to a live audience. This production counts on important and interesting collaborations like two time Oscar winner, Gustavo Santaolalla, who accompanied her with the banjo and sang the chorus of the song "Algun Dia (Someday)". Brazilian singer, Marisa Monte featured in song "Illusion", a new and beautiful song that combines the Spanish and Portuguese language. Also Mala Rodriguez joined Julieta and included a strong hip hop movement to the song "Eres Para Mi (You are for Me)", whereas the vocalist of Porter, Juan Carlos had a unique participation in "Algun Dia (Someday)". In addition, the very talented Natalia Lafourcade comprised of the orchestra and played several instruments during the night, whereas the talented musician and composer, Jacques Morelenbaum accompanied Julieta on the cello in "De mis Pasos (From my foot steps)".People en Español
There’s no doubt that Julieta Venegas is talented in the recording studio. Three great albums have proved her originality (Aquí,, Bueninvento, Sí) and the demand for her music (Limón y Sal sold a million copies). But on stage, Venegas doesn’t exude much energy or passion, so making a live album was risky for her career. On the other hand, like Alanis Morissette, Venegas was born to sing in small and intimate acoustic concert venues, and away from the masses, she knows how to create the magic one can find in her albums. On MTV Unpluggged, Venegas invites performers like Natalia Lafourcade, La Mala Rodríguez, Marisa Monte, and Juan Son to recreate new versions of her greatest hits that result in fresh and exciting collaborations. It’s a great musical montage of her practically perfect career. --Ernesto Sánchez (People en Español) No hay duda de que Julieta Venegas es talentosa en un estudio de grabación.
