Mountaintop Ranger District - Children's Forest Visitor Center
 

Welcome to the Children's Forest and the country's only Visitor Center run by youth.  Our Youth Hosts and Youth Naturalists are available to answer any questions you may have about the San Bernardino National Forest, whether it be about local flora and fauna or where to drive your off-highway vehicle! They can direct you to the best hiking spots, including those right out behind the Visitor Information Center. Stop and listen to our Youth Naturalists as they talk about the items on our Naturalist Table.

Youth Leaders provide interpretive hikes out of the Visitor Center on weekends. During the summer, Youth Naturalists guide tours on the Children’s Forest Interpretive Trail and discuss local plants and animals, as well as current issues facing the San Bernardino Mountains. During the winter, they will guide you and your family on exciting snowshoe tours and talk about how plants and animals survive our snowy winters.

We are located  on State Highway 18, one mile east of Running Springs.

Hours are 9:00am to 4:00pm Saturday & Sunday (Closed Monday-Friday)

The Children's Forest Visitor Center provides the following services to the public:

• Daily Adventure Passes,  Annual, Secondary, Handicap and Senior passes are available.

• All other Permits are available at the Big Bear Ranger Station & Discovery Center only.
