USB keyboard with Xfbdev

I'm trying to get a USB keyboard working with Xfbdev.

The keyboard works fine at the console, but as soon as I start X, the
caps/num lock lights no longer work, and things like ctrl-alt-f1 no
longer work.

I see the -keybd option, but have not located documentation yet on how
to use it.
