965GM and LCD panel over VGA

Hello,

My ThinkPad X300 has a 965GM, and I've plugged in a Dell E207WFP LCD
panel over VGA.  xrandr doesn't list the panels native resolution,
1680x1050.  The Intel driver version is Ubuntu Intrepid's
2:2.3.2-1ubuntu3.  Here is the output of xrandr:

$ xrandr

Is this a configuration issue, or have I stumbled on a bug?
