Here is the log with 1.99.4 https://qa.mandriva.com/attachment.cgi?id=10105 and another with 1.99.2 https://qa.mandriva.com/attachment.cgi?id=10107 The first two attachments on the bug are bogus and are a different issue (user confusion). The issue does not seem to be anything to do with evdev itself but rather how it handles itself on failure. It appears the device is totally bogus in both cases but the newer version causes some sort of fatal error (nothing in the log) whereas the older version just carries on happily.
