My screen is all washed out.
So I did research.

I need to correct my gamma. Using xgamma.
Brief experimentation showed that not much was happening.
(not so brief) searching showed this...
http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-020769.htm
Intel's driver for the card I have doesn't "do" gamma.
A brief email interchange with intel (or a bot, or a helpdesk person) revealed this ain't changing anytime soon.
So - is there any way I can get gamma correction applied OUTSIDE the driver?
My screen is really not very usable in its current state.
