I need to setup a linux box built by quite exotical hardware, to have an overaly of two video output, one from the vga and one from an hardware mpeg4 decoder. So, I need to study about xv overlay. Could you suggest me where can I find documentation about that?
Reading the Xv man page should get you started. There are also quite a number of applications out there that use this extension.
