Hello,
As director of an Open Source advocating company, I feel the urge to respond to recent license changes. I'm sure you received lots of email regarding the license change, so let me get straight to the point:
Does the benefit of changing the license, supercede the disadvantages of exclusion of 4.4.0 in several major Linux and BSD UNIX distributors?
I think every Open Source developer deserves respect and credit for their work, but doesn't this rather arrogant attitude take some of that respect away? Many people see you as not true devout Open Source contributors. Is the change to the new license worth all this fuss?
If yes, what will happen now? Many distributors refuse to incorporate non GPL-compatible code into their releases. There are many plans to fork and build a real open source (thus GPL-compatible) implementation of X11R6.
so you mean that only a GPL-compatible X implementation is foss? don't think so. and can i have a link to your advocate site? i like to click ;-)
