Microsoft's Virtual Desktop Patent

This maybe old news but I only just saw it so forgive me if I'm bringing 
it up again.

Microsoft have applied for a patent for a virtual desktop panner (Patent 
app #20030189597), functionality that has been around in X for a very 
long time. Do they have a strong case?
