Please don't assume that Thin Client computing means browser-based.

It is very common for enterprises to have several servers running
as application servers, where OpenOffice is served from one server
and other mission critical apps are served from other servers,
all appearing on a thin client display, being managed by Gnome, KDE
or Icewm.

The X Windows System is a beautiful way to do this. Is it
perfect ? No, but lets not throw it away.
