To cut a long story short, this is what you need to do. 1. Install the drivers. 2. Use fglrxconfig to generate a XF86Config file. 3. hexedit offset 0x626e in /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.o and change it from 74 44 to 90 90. They are very nice drivers once this is done!
