IAEA guidelines for volcanic hazards assessment

Dear Colleagues,

The International Atomic Energy Agency has just published guidelines on assessment of volcanic hazards for site evaluation. This effort involved many volcanologists from the international community, working to develop these guidelines over a period of more than 17 years. This Safety Guide, the first ever for volcanic hazard assessment for nuclear installations, has been approved by each Member State of the IAEA, and is now part of an extensive library of guidelines available through the IAEA concerning site evaluation.  The Safety Guide may be extremely useful for all engaged in assessment of volcanic hazards.

This publication is now available on the IAEA web site:

All the best
