Hi!

:> Subject: cx88 driver sound problems
:>
:>
:> Hello
:>
:> Does anyone else have sound problems with Hauppauge Wintv GO
:> or some other
:> cx88 based card? Tv system is PAL-BG with NICAM and mono FM
:> sound (A2).
:>
:> Video and tuner work OK. Sound is connected via external
:> cable from tv card to line in of sound card. I have tried
:> several versions of the drivers.
:>
:> - In A2 mode the sound works most of the time, but a burst
:> of noise appears maybe
:> once in ten seconds and lasts about a second. Then the
:> sound comes back.
:>
:> - In NICAM mode the sound is normally good, but maybe once
:> in 5 times the driver
:> is started the sound is severly distorted and stays this
:> way. By selecting
:> PAL-BG as tv norm in xawtv or with v4lctl couple of times
:> fixes the distortion.
:>
:> Normally this is not a problem but when starting recording
:> by cron or from a remote machine it is very annoying of not
:> knowing wether the sound will be recorded properly or not.
:>
:> The same card works fine with DScaler with no sound
:> problems. Which is strange since
:> cx88 driver's audio code is partly based on DScaler.
:>
:> I have tried to find critical differences between those two
:> with no success, also tried stopping interrupts and stopping
:> dma transfers during calls to "cx88_set_tvaudio"
:> with no effect. Does anyone has any ideas what else might be
:> causing these intermittent failure to initialize the sound
:> decoder properly?
:>
:> I would like to know how common this problem is, and is it
:> only with certain compination of things ( only in PAL, only
:> in PAL-BG, only with some cx88 cards ??? )
:>
:> --

I have same problem PAL-BG and Nicam.
