Problems with a WIntv Go Card

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi all,

I am new to v4l and am struggling with the concept of installing a Wintv Go card which is a connexant chipset as follows:

00:08.0 Multimedia video controller: Conexant: Unknown device 8800 (rev 03)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device 3401
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 18
       Memory at dd000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
       Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2

00:08.1 Multimedia controller: Conexant: Unknown device 8811 (rev 03)
Subsystem: Hauppauge computer works Inc.: Unknown device 3401
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 5
       Memory at de000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
       Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data
Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2

Now I enabled the cx88 module in my kernel 2.6.10. Hotplug seemed to detect the card perfectly without any module options as you can see:

Mar 11 20:51:34 desktop Linux video capture interface: v1.00
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx2388x v4l2 driver version 0.0.4 loaded
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop ACPI: PCI interrupt 0000:00:08.0[A] -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]: subsystem: 0070:3401, board: Hauppauge WinTV 34xxx models [card=1,autodetected]
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]: hauppauge eeprom: model=34705, tuner=Temic 4066FY5 (18), radio=no
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]/0: found at 0000:00:08.0, rev: 3, irq: 18, latency: 32, mmio: 0xdd000000
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop tuner: chip found at addr 0xc2 i2c-bus cx88[0]
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop tuner: type set to 18 (Temic PAL_I (4066 FY5)) by cx88[0]
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]/0: registered device video0 [v4l2]
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]/0: registered device vbi0
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]/0: registered device radio0
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]/0: set_audio_standard_BTSC (status: known-good)
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]/0: cx88: tvaudio thread started
Mar 11 20:51:35 desktop cx88[0]/0: AUD_STATUS: 0xffe2 [mono/no pilot] ctl=BTSC_AUTO_STEREO

Now the nodes seem to all be created and tif i cat /dev/v4l/vbi i get a ton of output. However if i cat the video0 i get:

cat: /dev/v4l/video0: Input/output error

and the kernel logs the following message:

Ive searched around on google for what on earth that all means but havent really found anything :( I expect its detecting it as the wrong card type or I simply need to define some options in my modprobe.conf possibly? Either that or its just broken right now. Can someone point me in the right direction. Im sorry to say Im a little stuck :(

Thanks

Neil
