That appears to be for the dvb crowd and not the v4l crowd. I suppose
we could see if they would tolerate v4l traffic. I believe there's been
some talk of normalizing the dvb and v4l2 standards, but I don't know
anything about the current state of that.

Let's see if they would accomodate v4l traffic. I'd like to see the two API's working more closely in the future. this might be a good way to help get that going.

All right -- that does sound like an attractive idea. But in practice, how do we really fit all the v4l stuff into the current table of contents?

Even though they explicitly say they want to include "all questions about Video, TV and DVB support on Linux", it's completely DVB centric now, and that's a good thing.
We'd need to make quite a few changes to their welcome page to make this suitable for v4l too, and it would just be messy.

I think what we need to do is ask the linuxtv site maintainers for a separate wiki on their site. They already host the DVB site (though it's misleadingly called the linuxtv.org wiki) and a VDR Wiki; they might well be open to hosting a v4l wiki too -- it would complement what's already there and give us a home.

With all the information that's around, and the constant barrage of questions, we really need a place to put information. If this sounds like a good idea, let's get in touch with the people on the linux-dvb mailing list (anyone here hang out there?) or the webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:webmaster@xxxxxxxxxxx> and ask for space.
