I've tried running xawtv and tvtime to the same avail, pretty much noise on the screen.

I've tried doing modprobe cx8800 card=34, but I think that ended up in
a segfault.

I've tried changing the console.perms file for the v41 from 0600 to 0666.

I really dont know where to from here. I've gotten the card to workin
windows with a program called DScaler, but only that program.

you find the card numbers in cx88.h and should try card=13, that will also load
the tda9887 demodulator, assuming you are on some recent stuff and not first alpha, since now you pass the card number to cx88xx.

Also the best info you find always with "dmesg" after modprobe.

In case you should have the Pal variant, there is a slight uncertainty for the gpio values in cx88-cards.c. You can look it up here.
