Look, let's not blame the people on the list, this stuff is just a pain.
Nowhere else are there so many individual, idiosyncratic solutions to 
problems.
The people here are amazingly patient and helpful, but they just don't
have the capacity to help everyone. If you want the list to be more 
friendly,
chip in, hang around after your problem's been fixed, help someone out.
