Re: Hauppauge WinTV 34705 - status

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi again all,

Sound at last! This was a hard one.

After hanging about on this list for a few days I eventually caved in and installed Windows on a spare drive, ran Regspy, and got the output to try to get my GPIO values. Then I took a look at the cx88-cards.c and found that the GPIO values in there are in fact correct.

I then cracked open Xawtv and set the TV standard to PAL-I, then went and scanned the channels until I found one where there was a picture. Then, for some reason, I switched over to NTSC-M, and then back to PAL-I, and got perfect sound!

So, my next question is, why doesn't the standard switch over when I think it should? When I keep audio_debug on it seems as though it's changed (I see "set_audio_standard_A2 PAL-I mono (status: works, but noisy)" and lots of A2_FORCE_MONO1). I also sometime see this in my logs just after changing from one standard to another:
Jan 26 20:39:34 arcadia kernel: tuner: TV freq (268435455.93) out of range (44-958)

Additionally, I can't seem to get it to work in TVTime properly (picture but no sound), and I just don't think I've looked hard enough into MythTV to get that working right.

Many thanks,
Chris

Hi all,

I installed the latest v4l snapshot (20050120-125446) and tried with my 34705 again. This time, after reading gazillions of messages, I turned the hue right up and I do get a decent picture! All we have left now is sound, which is still just white noise.

As I mentioned before, I'm in the UK so I'm in a PAL-I region, and I saw there were patches floating about on this very list, but they seem very draft in nature. Shall I just wait for newer snapshots or could someone maybe send me some to test? My machine is, at the moment, just waiting for the TV card to work before it can do anything much. So I'm willing to test anything!

Please let me know.

Chris
