Re: RCA Program Guide

I totally agree, I was just pointing out that sofar I've seen no project that actually can use the data. I know that it's put out by a company called Gemstar and that Mr. Gates has partial ownership in it. I think it's quite proprietary, but if you start to figure anything out feel free to share and maybe we can begin to use it.

Mike,

I already use xmltv, it would however be nice to be able to setup a
mythbox without having an internet connection, no?

Hi Mark,

I think you're talking about Guide+ which works in Canada as well as the
USA. Unfortunately I have never seen any project which can decode the
Guide+ signal, except for some apps bundled with ATI video cards. If
you want to get guide data I suggest that you look into XMLTV which is
what most free projects seem to be using these days. You can find XMLTV
here, http://membled.com/work/apps/xmltv/

I know that RCA tv's in the US recieve program guide via PBS stations,
is there a way to retrieve that using a BT848 card? Is it VBI? Is
there a driver, I looked at nxtepg but it seems europe specific?
