I recently purchased a Hauppauge WinTV card for a media server of
mine, however have had difficulty getting it to work with V4L. The
tuner detects as -1, unknown. After running diagnosics provided by
hauppauge I have found the tuner chip on this card to be a TCL
2002N_6A, which as far as I know is not currently supported by V4L.
The card is model 44801 Rev D185, NTSC, using the BT878A decoder
chip. I was wondering if anyone else is in the same boat, and if they
got theirs working with V4L, or if there are any plans to support
this tuner in the future.
I suggest you try *ever* tuner number, seeing whether you have signal
e.g. with scantv. It's a dirty trick but it often works.
Or better, patch your tuner module with patches/as described
http://67.18.1.101/~ckennedy/ivtv/new_tuners/
Or, use a newer version of v4l (see "Which versions of packages require
patching" at bottom of the README on the download page.
Note: TCL 2002N is tuner type 50.
