New Forest Supervisor for the Chugach National
Forest
The Alaska Region welcomes Terri Marceron as the new
Forest Supervisor for the 5.4 million acre Chugach National Forest. Terri
is a 23-year veteran of the Forest Service. She comes to us from Lake Tahoe
Basin Management Unit where she served as Forest Supervisor.
Terri brings management and partnership experience
tied to forest health and prescribed fire, watershed restoration, winter
and summer recreation programs and projects including managing a busy visitor
center. Terri developed, maintained and expanded a variety of federal,
state, Tribal and local/private partnerships to support programs on and
off National Forest System lands within the Lake Tahoe Basin.
Regional Forester, Beth Pendleton, said Terri is a
welcome addition to the Region. Terri has 23 years of forest and district
experience and has worked in four regions. She has excellent collaboration
skills and extensive experience in working with State and federal agencies,
Tribes, and special interest groups. She brings a strong recreation, public
policy, and fire and fuels management background to this important regional
leadership position.
Terri holds a Masters degree in public policy, outdoor
recreation and environmental interpretation from the University of Washington-College
of Forest Resources. She began her career as a Forest Planner on the Lewis
and Clark NF and has held positions as a Forest Planner and District Ranger,
as well as Forest Supervisor. She replaces former Chugach Forest Supervisor
Joe Meade, who transferred to the Partnership Director position in Washington
D.C.
Terri looks forward to getting better acquainted with
the Chugach, its communities, and the people that live and work in it.
She and her husband and their two dogs look forward to skiing, hiking and
backpacking in their 5.4 million acre backyard. Mona
