Tentative prescribed fire plans for Tuesday
Flagstaff, AZ – Pending
favorable conditions, fire managers are planning prescribed fires on the
following projects for Tuesday, May 25.
All prescribed fire activity is
dependent on personnel availability, weather, ventilation conditions, and
approval from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (www.azdeq.gov).
Peaks and Mormon Lake Districts
Mint Project - 750 acres. About 1 mile south of Mormon Lake
Village. This maintenance burn mimics fire’s natural cycle, so smoke will
be minimal, yet visible from Forest Highway 3 and Mormon Lake. Smoke may
settle in Mormon Lake Basin overnight.
Mogollon Rim District
Imax Project –900 acres. About 6 miles northwest of Clints
Well. This maintenance burn mimics fire’s natural cycle. Smoke may be
visible from FH 3 and I-17 and drain into West Clear Creek overnight.
