Secretary Vilsack to Release Report Highlighting Obama Administration Accomplishments Supporting Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Efforts
WASHINGTON, March 20, 2012— TODAY, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack will release a report highlighting the Obama Administration’s progress in helping rural small businesses, farmers and ranchers improve energy efficiency and generate power from wind, solar, anaerobic digestion and other renewable sources.
The report will highlight how the Rural Energy for America (REAP) program has assisted individual applicants to control power costs and in some cases, generate power for sale. The program is part of President Obama’s “all of the above” approach for a new era in American energy policy which includes homegrown and alternative energy sources. To coincide with the report’s release, Rural Development state offices across the nation will hold events to demonstrate how REAP helps reduce energy use and supports the development of renewable energy sources.
