WASHINGTON, D.C. – The White House t=
oday announced the establishment of the first White House Rural Council w=
ith the aim of building on and strengthening the economic success in rura=
l communities. The President today signed an Executive Order establishing=
the Council and focusing it on ways to bolster job growth and opportunit=
ies for rural families. 
 
This morning, June 9, at 11:15 Eastern, Se=
cretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack and Secretary of the Interior Ken Sala=
zar will host a conference call to discuss the Rural Council, which holds=
its first meeting ahead of the call.  The Secretaries will talk abo=
ut the areas in which the Council will focus and answer questions from re=
porters.
