White House Event to Announce Winners of Apps for Healthy Kids Challenge
WASHINGTON, Sep. 27, 2010 - On Wednesday, September 29, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius and U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra will announce 12 winners of the Apps for Healthy Kids Competition with $60,000 in prizes at stake.

In March 2010, First Lady Michelle Obama launched the competition as part of her Let's Move! initiative, challenging software developers, game designers, students, and other innovators to develop innovative, fun, and engaging digital tools and games that help kids and their parents eat better and be more physically active.
In a four month span, students, hobbyists, developers and corporations submitted nearly 100 creative apps and more than 40,000 people signed on as supporters of the challenge through the website. Attendees will be able to test the winning games in real time.
