I can't think of any way to do it.

Maybe.  But most likely the hub would provide the same signal 
characteristics as the computer.

It's not possible for the ports on your computer but it is possible 
for certain brands of hub.  For example, check out this page:

If you can get the right sort of hub, it just might work.
