I am running gentoo 2006.1 on a Dell inspiron E1705. The computer has no parallel ports. I have a stepper motor controller that requirers a parallel port. I attached a belkin F5U002 usb to parallel adaptor (USS720 chip) to the computer. When I boot with the adaptor attached /dev/usb/lp0 is created. I recompiled the kernal with modules parport, parport_pc,usblp,ppdev, and uss720 installed (module names added to appropriate file in /etc/modules.autoload.d) and rebooted. No entry /dev/parport0 or /dev/par0 was created when the usb to parallel adaptor was attached before booting. Do you have any idea what I am doing wrong? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more? Need to support web services, security?
