missing /proc/bus/usb/drivers, why?

Hey all:  

I have a /proc/bus/usb directory with a devices file and
three directories 001, 002 and 003.  

But no drivers file.  

I've built four kernels this afternoon.  This is getting
old.  Any ideas what I may be missing here, please?
