Failing that, did you have an opinion as to whether or not 'heap' was better
than the 'lru' with regards to windows updates?

I have no idea really. My goals with caching when I evaluate them is to maximize bandwidth savings and minimize time/CPU overheads. I run a CDN double-timing as both Hosting and ISP gateway caches.
