This is weird, it applies fine here on git master HEAD
[git: master]$ git grep SYSLOGFLAG
scripts/fixfiles:SYSLOGFLAG="-l"
scripts/fixfiles:${SETFILES} -q ${SYSLOGFLAG} ${FORCEFLAG} $* ${FC} ${FILESYSTEMSRW} 2>&1 | cat >> $LOGFILE
