Re: Encrypted kernel

Title: Encrypted kernel
hello Emer!
About Encryption, I have a very different opinion.
Under non-network environment, I think that the encryption is not a necessary part of operating system! If os can provide perfect access control mechanism, confidential data will be protected from compromise.
Of course, you must avoid your hard disk being stolen! :)

Subject: Encrypted kernel

Hello Everybody!

I am new on the list and I did not want to be inpolite for this reason I just wanted to say hello or hola.
My question is about the Linux kernel. It is specifically about the Encryption features of the Linux kernel. I know we have got modules, which allow the kernel encrypts root file system and more but why should we encrypt the system? Does it make the system more secure?

I have found the Encryption HOWTO on http://www.tldp.org but I wanted to know the opinion and thoughts of other people.

Thank you very much,
