wine and security

Hello everybody
You know that wine (windows emulator) can execute windows applications.
can viruses affect any Linux machine having wine installed over it ?

other question : what's the difference between su and su -
because, on some PCs, su doesn't allow me to use some commands (service ..
status , for example)
