I have read of complaints by users of the Nikon IV, as well. However, the effect is less noticeable, simply because the Nikon IV is a 2900 dpi scanner. The more resolution, the more obvious the DOF problem. It became a more noticeable problem to the point where people were rejecting the units with the 4000ED and 8000ED both of which use 4000 dpi.
