For the price of a USB hub, you can get a USB 2.0 card with four or five
ports. You'd need to find out if it will run under Win98, but that should be
as simple as looking on the back of the box.

Thanks to all who answered my query. What I have learned is that the
Microtek 6700 scanner should work fine with Win98SE but not at all with
Win98, at least on firewire. It should be fine but slow on Win98 usb.

My '98 box has two usb devices already on it's two usb ports. So I'll need
to get a port expander if I want to use usb. Or for a little more money,
upgrade the operating system.
