Hi Guys: I have the Epson 2450. On my Win98se system (P-3-800), I had to install a Adaptec USB 2.0 card. Also had to download a driver from their web site for Win98 - One did not come with the card. The scanner works great and fast compared to USB 1.1. USB 2.0 and Firewire are about the same in speed. NOTE: Win98se does not support Firewire ;( (Win2000 will also support Firewire) I also have the 2450 connected by Firewire to a WinME system (Athlon 900). Both work fine. WinME will support Firewire, but don't try installing the twain driver until you install the Firewire card. I did this and had to contact Epson. They sent me a list of files to manually remove after uninstalling the driver and before re-installation.
