Hello all,
Simply stated, stay on topic or do not stay on this list. If you cannot
adhere to the rules below, you will be unsubscribed.
**** Welcome to the Scan mailing list ****
Scan is a forum for general discussion concerning the purchase and use
of scanners. All makes and models may be discussed.
Appropriate topics include but are not limited to:
Hardware: Scanners, cables, interface cards.
Software: Plug-Ins, image processing and enhancement.
Color: Color reproduction, color corrections, calibration.
Storage: Archiving, compression, file sizes.
Images: Image quality, resolution, color space, file formats.
Printing: Preparing files to print, types of printers.
Before we get started, please take the time to read a few ground rules:
1. The subject of all posts should be related to scanning. Do
not clog the list with tangential discussions, take them to private email.
2. Please DO NOT send attachments to Scan! They will bog down the mail
server and make the admin unhappy. Let me repeat:
**DO NOT SEND ATTACHMENTS TO THE LIST**.
Many of you will have images to share. I suggest the following:
Send a message to the list. Tell the list about your image and ask anyone
who wants a copy to email you privately. Then you can email only that
person the image, instead of the entire list. Alternatively you can place
your image on a web page and post the URL to the list.
3. Please trim quoted text to a bare minumum. Everyone on the list
recieves each message, no need to send it again.
4. Keep commercial postings and self-promotional advertising off the list.
Scan may seek sponsorship in the future. If you are interested, please
contact the list owner privately: owner-scan@leben.com.
5. Expect a diverse collection of people on the list. Be patient and
polite. Remember there is a person on the other end of your flame!
6. Anyone can join Scan. If they have internet email then they can
join (see instrucions below).
7. All of the members can contribute! Typically most people on a list are
"lurkers." The more participation we get the better we can benefit from
the list.
8. No questions are too basic for this list. Many of the subscribers are
experienced pros, but we are all newbies at some point.
