I must be missing something, but why can't you just define the RGB function 
below 128 as desired; set an anchor point at (128,128); and maintain the 
interval 128 to 255 along the diagonal?  I'll even send you a sample .ACV 
file if you like.

If I'm right, it would be just like any other curve.
