Re: Nikon Acknowleges Banding, Sort Of

I once again apologize to the list for this public message. This will
be my last public message in this regard, but if you do read it to the
end you will understand why it has been placed publicly.

Look, you wish to believe I make up little green men.

Therefore, the only thing that fits into your belief system is that I'm
seeing little green men.

Most people who I've worked with know the level of my integrity, and
respect it. If I couldn't be trusted with information or sources, I
wouldn't receive it anymore. All I can tell you is that I have contacts
in this industry who I have private email and phone discussions with. I
respect their need to not have certain information divulged publicly, or
that the information cannot be release until or certain time or their
names can't be associated with certain information. I suppose these
people could be feeding me bunk, but, I tend to trust that people get no
benefit from doing so, and I feel I am a fairly good judge of character
most of the time.

You have certainly made it clear within these lists publicly as have
several people you associate with in your engineering circles, and in
the most unkind and mean spirited fashion, that you doubt my
credibility. You have every right to have such an opinion, and to
challenge my statements. When I have the ability to do so, I can give
sources or explain my reasoning, I simply cannot or will not always do
so. What you do not have the right to do is to libel me in the fashion
you and others have chosen to.

I would hope you can understand that if a competing company determines
something about a competing product they might not wish to have their
name associated with that determination. Its makes for bad corporate
relations, and raises conflict of interest issues. Yet, I have seen you
make demands from a number of people within the scanning industry on
these lists to reveal things they are not able to and then questioned
their credibility because they did not. I understand that in this and
all other business situations a certain amount of desecration is
required. You know how I found out things you demanded to know but did
not get a response to? I went into private mail, I assured the people I
would respect whatever constraints they placed on me and I developed a
relationship of trust with those people. That's how. And since I
continue to receive information within the industry, it would appear
these people approve of how I've handled their trust. I will not be
bullied into violating it because you think I see little green men.

I was not chosen to provide testing for a scanner 5 months before it hit
the streets because I was delusional or untrustworthy. I have also beta
tested for other products many of the people on this list use. I am
selected to do these things because I have the judgment and discretion
not to violate non-disclosure. I don't have to be an engineer or a
software programmer to find fault with products, or to provide
solutions. I am asked to do these things because I can provide
descriptive comments that are understandable to all levels within the
company, because I have a very eclectic background in both wholesale and
retail marketing, management, many areas of photography, manufacturing,
printing, legal matters, have done some quality control consulting, and
because I am very creative in my approach to technology, I have good
ideas and think "outside of the box", because I am literate,
trustworthy, personable and smart and because I tell it like it is when
I do beta testing, I complement the good and I lambaste the bad. If some
people consider this description egotistical, fine, but its accurate as
well. And no, I'm not providing either a resume or my IQ scores, so
you'll have to choose to believe it or not.

This is the last time I am going to discuss this matter in public,
because it is just boring to everyone else. When I sent you similar
information in private mail you claimed I was afraid to reveal it
because it was untrue, so I've accommodated you.

I am going to ASK you to act civilly toward me but I am demanding you
stop libeling me.
