I've compared the Leaf 45 with the LS-8000, on 35 mm and on 645.

The Nikon is visibly sharper, on 6x6 and 645. Not to mention
quite a bit faster, and about 1/5 the size and weight. On 35 mm,
at 5000 dpi, the Leaf was slightly sharper.

If you're quite the fanatic, and have a lot of time to kill, you might
appreciate the 5000 dpi mode, for 35 mm, that the Leaf offers.
With the Nikon, you'll have to settle for 4000 dpi.

On 6x6 and 645, the Leaf resolves 2500 dpi, while the LS-8000
maintains its 4000 dpi resolution.

With the Leaf, you'll have to contend with old drivers that will
never be updated. To use the Leaf on a Wintel machine, you
need IEEE-1488 (HP-IB) cable and adapter board. On Mac
machines, the interface is SCSI.
