From: Scott Whittle <larzalere@earthlink.net> Subject: dust in my SS4000 Well, I think having my SS4000 in my dusty apartment for over a year has finally caught up to me: because the scanner has open slots in the front and back, dust has accumulated inside the scanner. Very clear when you shine a flashlight in there. I'm assuming this is going to be detrimental to my scans...any way to clean it out (canned air doesn't seem to do much)? I'm in New York City, if anyone knows a place I can get it done (if I need to go that far...). Thanks! Scott W. ******************* Since you already have openings in the case, why not cover all of them with tape but one and use a vacuum cleaner with a hose attached? You should be able to figure some way to get a tight enough seal to pull the dust out. That would take care of any loose dust, not so sure about any that is statically attached to the glass. Might get that also. Now I have no idea if this would cause any kind of possible internal damage, so someone here on this list who is more familiar with the mechanical workings may need to chime in here. Just thinking out loud here.
