This can be particularly annoying with underexposed print film. Just a wild guess, is all. But it might not be so much the dreaded grain aliasing that others have mentioned; there are other possible explanations. One is extreme tonal compression/decompression, which leads to posterization, which often looks like grain. rafe b. - Turn off HTML mail features. Keep quoted material short.
