You can probably find yourself a pre-owned LeafScan 
45 for around $1500, I'll bet.  It's big and bulky and slow, 
but it is (still) a very fine scanner, and will give you an 
honest 2500 dpi optical on 6x6 film.  No batch scanning, 
though.  I think you're not going to find that in your 
price range.
