I use firewire with Win98 all the time to transfer from my digital video camera into my computer for editing. Consider Microsoft's registration restrictions before installing XP. I won't for this reason. 2000Pro is probably a better choice if you want security. It is a WinNT4 spin-off mixed with the best of WinXX. Only problem might be compatibility with older applications you may want to run.
