John, You must make the distinction between the Epson 1650P ( which, as Don Dement says, has a built-in film adapter for 35mm film only ) and the Epson 1650 with the separate ( and extra cost ) film adapter lid B81317 which takes film with various holders from 35mm up to 5" x 4". I have used this latter arrangement for B/W negs and colour transparencies up to 6 x 7cm and have been pleased with the results. The Epson 2450 is probably more convenient to use, scans to a higher resolution, connects via USB 2.0 or Firewire and costs little if any more than the 1650 + B81317 - unfortunately for me it came on the UK market a few weeks after I bought my 1650 set-up. Anyone want to buy me out so that I can upgrade to the 2450 ?
