I use SilverFast AI (5.5) with my Nikon LS2000 and can't say enough good things about it. Works perfectly all the time. Very little to do when I finish the scan and go into Photoshop. I also have the IT8 target. However, you have to have your monitor calibrated properly as well. My prints come out as close to perfect as one can get but part of that is because I also have custom profiles for printing on my Epson 1280. The new feature on ver 5.5 is nega-fix. The color work I do on the magazine is as close as one can get using the LS2000 and SilverFast AI. I wouldn't be without it.. nor I do I believe that there is software on the market that can come even close to what it can do. I'm not saying this is the problem, but if you are not getting good results with it, aside from the scanner, I would suggest that a visit to Ian Lyons home page is worthwhile to ensure that it is set up properly with PS. Most of my scanning is 36 bit but I have done 48 bit raw scans and have great results. Again, check out Ian Lyons home page on this as well. I should add that I am using Win98 (original) and my monitor is calibrated using ProveIt 4.0 and the colorimeter which provides a custom monitor profile. I create a custom monitor profile about once a month. Regards..
