Had mine for a few months now Nick.

Very pleased with it.

I scan 6x4.5cm and 5x4 trans and negs with it. 16 x 12 prints from the
medium format scans via my 1270 are better than pro photo lab prints.

I use the USB port (my pc is too old for firewire). I understand you
can't use firewire with Windows 98 - you'll need XP or 2000.
