Could we start a discussion of the SilverFast scanning programs. I have a Nikon LS-2000 35mm film scanner and an Epson 1680 bed scanner with a transparency adaptor. I have had the Nikon for a couple of years. When I first got it I tried both the scanning program that came with the scanner and I tried SilverFast. According to what I had read SilverFast was supposed to be great. Since it was a couple of years ago, I can not recall all of the details, but I quickly became frustrated with SilverFast. I learned how to use the Nikon program (since upgraded to a new version) and liked it quite a lot. I abandoned SilverFast. However, I felt guilty about it because the "pros" all liked SilverFast. The Epson 1680 came with SilverFast, as well as an Epson program. The Epson program is a bit lame without even a histogram display, so I was/am determined to make SilverFast work. After a great deal of time and frustration, I am starting to get the hang of the program but it has not been easy. I find the manuals very confusing. The subject matter is complicated and English is not the native language of the author. With that intro, I would like to solicit others views on SilverFast (or other scanning program where they would like to comment). Jim Allen - Turn off HTML mail features. Keep quoted material short.
