Byard, Thanks for the thoughts. I tried every setup I could think of. The simplest, and one that I had hoped would work, was to only have the Epson 1680 scanner connected. It has a switch in the back that you set for termination on or off. Since it was the only device in the chain, I had it on. That gave the same results. I even tried putting the problem Epson scanner in the middle of the chain. Same problem. Hence, although I cannot be sure, it does not seem that it is a termination problem. It is a very strange problem. Any other thoughts? Jim Are you sure that only the first and last devices on the chain are terminated? I think Adaptec supplies a terminated cable, so the card is terminated...therefore, you need only terminate the last device on the chain, and shouldn't terminate anything between the card and the last device. Just to make things even happier...some terminators won't work with some devices...oh, joy...so you could try a different terminator. Scanners, in general, seem to do better as the last device on the chain, so perhaps reconfiguring the chain would help. And, be sure of your SCSI ID numbers...as you probably know, it isn't the ID number but the position in the chain that determines first and last device. on 03/05/2002 05:38 PM, Jim Allen at JAllen@NortechVentures.com wrote: > Greetings, > > I have an Epson 1680 Therefore, I decided to go to > SCSI connection.
