re: Nikon LS-2000

Gracia,

You need to go to the Nikon digital support site:
http://www.nikontechusa.com

You may have to update the firmware before you get the newer version of
Nikonscan. I find the 3.1.2 version a big improvement over what came on
the disk with my scanner. You can find a free, 24/7 live tech support
line on that site and they will walk you through any problems you have.
(I can't help you with the windoze thing, all I ever buy are Mac's)

If you do a lot of color neg scans, you might want to try Vuescan, which
works with almost any scanner. The designer, Ed Hamrick, has done a
great job updating the program over the last year. It is certainly worth
the $40 he charges, and you get free upgrades (almost weekly) for life.
(You can download Mac, Windows and Linux versions)
http://www.hamrick.com/

If you are scanning a lot of slides, take a look at Monaco's EZColor 2,
which allows you to build scanner profiles. This is especially helpful
if you are scanning Kodachrome and saves a lot of time in Photoshop with
your E-6 slides as well. http://www.monacosys.com/
